Your photo upload speed depends on the size and resolution of your photos and the speed of your internet connection.
You can speed up your uploads by using a photo editing program (simple photo editing software often comes with your digital camera) to decrease the size/resolution of your photos. Or, you can change the settings on your digital camera to take photos at a smaller size/resolution. The optimal resolution for viewing photos on the Web is 72 dpi @ 1.3 megapixel, producing a file sized at 500 KB approximately.
Note: While high-resolution photos take longer to upload, it’s worth the wait if you plan to order prints or other products. The optimal resolution for making prints is 300 dpi. To generate a high-quality 8.2" by 5.4" print, you will need to set your camera to 4.0 megapixel and 300 dpi, the resulting file size will be approximately 1.5 MB.
